Agriculture is the foundation of a nation, and it lies in seed breeding.  The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out: we must deeply implement the revitalization of the seed industry, strengthen agricultural science and technology, and equipment support to ensure that the Chinese people have control over their own food supply.  In Yujiawu International Seed Technology Park, Beijing Dong Sung Hetian International Agricultural Technology Development Company has targeted the "chip" of agriculture and successfully cultivated various high-yielding and high-quality radish seeds, firmly grasping the autonomy of seed production in their own hands.

In the greenhouse of Beijing Dong Sung Hetian International Agricultural Technology Development Company, staff members are manually pollinating radish flowers.  This step is part of the backcrossing process, where the staff members carefully transfer pollen from the same flower to the stigma.  To maintain purity during pollination, the flowers are bagged after the process.  A period of time after successful pollination, the seeds mature, and then the staff members select and sow the seeds. Once the radishes are mature, the backcrossing process is repeated. It is reported that the successful cultivation of each seed requires at least three repetitions of this breeding process.

Jin Xuanguo, the director of the Institute of Beijing Dong Sung Hetian International Agricultural Technology Development Co., Ltd., said, "We collect various varieties that have unique characteristics from all over China, and even from abroad. After purifying and organizing these materials, we conduct backcrossing and three-line hybridization to enhance cold resistance and improve taste."
